What to Bring/Pack

BRING:

We ask that all missionaries bring a few things to use while at the mission and leave behind as supplies.

  • If you would like to bring items to help the mission, contact Brother William or Brother Danny for an up-to-date list of needs and/or review the needs list in the How You Can Help section.
  • You also might want to ask the permanent Honduran team if they're longing for any items from the U.S. they can't get in Honduras. Care package items are always welcomed.
  • Also, plan on leaving as much stuff behind as you can. For example, leave your shampoo, Tylenol, bug spray, etc. as a blessing to the mission. This helps a great deal.
  • And when it comes time to go home, if you have extra lempiras, think about leaving them with the mission as a blessing. Everything helps, even if it's only a couple of dollars or half a bottle of shampoo.

PACK:

  • Be sure to pack a day's change of clothes in your carry on in the event your luggage is lost or delayed.
  • Be sure to pack all of your money, passport, papers for Gracie, and important papers on your person or carry on.
  • Bring any medications you might need while at the mission in current, dated and labeled bottles with your name on it. Do not put them in your luggage, pack in your carry on in the event your luggage is lost or delayed.
  • If you can't do without it while you're here, put it in your carryon.
  • Note: if you're planning a VBS with lots of children, bring everything you need. And if you're going to hand out multiple items, bring bags to make goody bags. These children have been so deprived, they will push and shove and mob you, fearing they won't get anything. The quicker and more fair you can pass things out the better. Also, don't bring candy, bring nutritious items like granola bars, peanut butter crackers, fruit rollups, etc.
  • Make a list of everything in your checked luggage and in your carry on bag. Carry this with your passport.
  • Do not wrap presents or seal boxes. Customs agents in U.S. or Honduras might want to open them to inspect them.
