La Ermita

Christ Outreach Ministries' mission, church and farm, above, is located in a village called La Ermita, about 59 km northeast of the capital city, Tegucigalpa. The 40-acre mission is completing the building of its church (not shown).

There is a dining hall (center building) and (in the left building) housing for Rosa and her family, and our mission dormitory. In the building to the right is our pastor's home, guest room, infirmary, pastor's office and mission office.

Rosa has been with Christ Outreach Ministries since 1998. She cares for the mission daily and ran our children's home when it was in La Ermita. She is responsible for keeping the mission running smoothly.

She lives at the mission with two of her children, Daniela, 16, and Bryan, 13, and three of her grandchildren, Heydi, 11, Joselyn, 13, and Cristofer, 10.

Don Rufino has worked with animals on haciendas for more than 30 years. He now cares for all of the animals we are raising. He is a widow and supports his daughter, who was abandoned by her husband, and he supports her children. He does all his work as unto the Lord with joy.

Chico, left, and Santo, right, work for our mission doing construction and farming. Chico supports his wife and five children and his blind, widowed mother. Santo supports his wife and three children. Both love and serve the Lord.

In the village of La Ermita there are many children who are excited about learning about the Lord.

During the Alabama group's July 2004 mission trip, more than 130 children showed up for VBS Jimmy Hughes' son Joshua  Sunshine Wilhite (white shirt and black shorts), and another youth, Aaron Burleson (not shown).

Samantha lives in La Ermita. She and her mother visited with the 2004 Alabama mission team during their second day in the village. She was born with bowed legs and has received no medical treatment to correct them.

COM would like to have visiting medical teams to help address the many medical needs in the community. Many of the women and young girls who have babies do not have access to prenatal care or medical care for their infants and babies.
