Outreach July-August 2005

The youth and the nurses from the Hartselle First United Methodist mission team worked at a medical clinic at a neighboring mission on July 21. They served more than 400 people from La Ermita and surrounding communities.

Pastor Sparkman from Hartselle First United Methodist Church spent two days, July 22-23, at Jimmy Hughes' Rehab program ministering and teaching.

The Hartselle First United Methodist team sent two groups of 6 people each to work at Jimmy Hughes' children's home July 19-20 and July 22-23.

The team's two nurses took care of the children, who were sick at the time.

Our infirmary has already been used.
We have been able to help a family
in La Ermita that had a respiratory
infection and two families with
worms, as well as a widow
with arthritis.

We are working with Dr. Jorge F. Ponce, a Honduran doctor. He donates 2-3 days a week to going to the mountains and serving the poor. We endeavor to act as a supportive ministry to him in any way that we can. The weekend of Sept. 9-10 we will go with him to the mountains as he does his rounds.

During August we walked through La Ermita and visited with some of the people we met last year, reconnecting with them. We've been able to minister to people on the buses as we go to Talanga and Tegu. One day there was a very sick child on the bus and her mother allowed us to lay hands on her and pray for her. Also, there is a bus stop at the end of our driveway. Many times we have been able to minister to and talk with people as they wait for the bus.

The time has come to do the Lord's work . . .

We are his hands to help those in need . . .
